Championships Results

The Stingrays brought home 26 individual medals - 8 gold, 10 silver, 8 bronze - along with 4 top three relay finishes over the 2 day  Summer League Championships held at Josh Davis Natatorium on July 8-9.  

Friday's competition for 11 years and older was capped off by the girls' 11-12 freestyle relay of Sarah Feider, Nikki Stanton, Kate Guerra, and Falon McCorvey who swam to a 1st place finish to complete their perfect season.  Kate (50 backstroke) and Falon (50 freestyle) also collected individual gold medals while Sarah was the Stingray's only triple medal winner of the day, collecting three silvers (butterfly, freestyle, IM).  The foursome also placed 2nd in the 200 medley relay.  Nathan Bruner led the boys with a gold (IM) and silver (breaststroke) medal.  Andrew Murata (breaststroke) and Michael Murata (breaststroke) also brought home gold for the Stingrays.  Heather Brown (breaststroke) and Tyler Brown (breaststroke) added silver medals, while Grace Richardson (backstroke), Kyle Gates (backstroke), Aryn Lind (breaststroke) and Noelle Gaboriault-Whitcomb (breaststroke) won bronze medals.  The boys 13-14 relays collected 2 third place finishes - Nathan, Tyler and Andrew teamed with James-Paul Feider in the medley relay while Nathan, Andrew and James-Paul followed Eric Brown's leadoff in the freestyle relay.

Saturday's competition for 10 and unders was highlighted be a trio of three medal winners - Christian Eberhard, Allysa Bentley and Jacob Brehm.  Christian led the Stingray boys by collecting double gold in the backstroke and breaststroke and a silver in the IM.  Allysa led the Stingray girls with a medal of each color - gold (IM), silver (butterfly), bronze (breaststroke).  Jacob joined the triple medal club by collecting a silver (breaststroke), and 2 bronze medals (free and IM).  Silver medalist Sam Hernandez (breaststroke) and bronze medalist Evelyn Bruner were the other Stingray medalists on Saturday.

Overall the Stingrays amassed the most number of awards since they moved into the AASSL large division.  The 26 individual medals were 9 more than last year and the 79 total individual awards was a 20% improvement from 2010.  Congratulations to all of the Stingray award winners!
